Further Publication Guidelines

All illustrations included in a paper are referred to as “Figure”.  IACA does not use the terms “plate”, “map”, etc.  All illustrations should be cited in the text using the word “Figure” without abbreviation. Example: Figure 2.

We recommend using a reasonable size and good resolution for figures: 1200 dpi for line drawings and 300 dpi for photos.

Drawings  and  maps  should  include  a  scale  and  an  indicator  of map orientation (north).

Authors are responsible for obtaining the authorization for reproduction of the illustrations they propose to use.

It is recommended to mark very clearly the hierarchy of titles in the text in accordance with the style guide of American Antiquity. Do not use unnecessary capital letters and italics. It is also preferable to avoid bold and underlined text and not to use abbreviations.

Quotations of less than five (5) lines are part of the text and should be put in quotation marks, and in italics if they are in a language other than the main language of the paper. Quotations of more than five (5) lines should be separated from the main body of the text by a single line of spacing.

Footnotes should be numbered continuously in the text but appear grouped  as  endnotes  at  the  end  of  the  manuscript,  before  the  bibliography.

All in-text citations of a reference should include only the name of the author and the year of publication, in addition to a page or figure number, if necessary. Examples: (Taylor 1964) or (Taylor 1964: 23); (Rouse 1952: 72-78); (Jones and Wilson 1971: 21, figure 2).

Concerning rules of punctuation, IACA applies the usual rules used in the language  in  which  the  paper  is  written:  French,  English,  and  Spanish.

Full   bibliographic   references   should   be   given   in   the   form   of   an alphabetically  and  chronologically  ordered  list  at  the  end  of  the  text. They should be formatted in accordance with the style guide of American Antiquity.
